Wedding Bells...

Well, if you haven't heard by now - my brother got engaged Saturday! He and Lindsay were going to meet my sister and the kids at the Dallas Arboretum to have a picnic and take Easter pictures. Little did Lindsay know... he was going to propose to her!! She was apparently SHOCKED and so excited. Both families met for lunch at the Arboretum and congratulated the couple, etc. And little did they know - I was there too! It was a big surprise for John David. I had been helping him plan the engagement all week and then I walked up at the picnic. I wish you could have seen the look on his face when he saw me!! Anyway - here are some pictures from the afternoon...

Not a very good pic of the ring (she had it on backwards so you can't see the front diamonds)...but it is absolutely GORGEOUS! He did good! They are hoping for late October wedding in the Dallas area. No details yet....
We have great pics of Easter too! I'll send those as soon as Sarah sends them to me. She's the one with the great camera!

There's No Place Like Home..

Well, we are back from NYC! The weather (for the most part) was miserable. Cold, VERY windy, and pouring rain. However! It was a wonderful trip!! I was able to see some old friends from ACU, take Geof around to see the sights, get some shopping in, and we even caught 5th row center seats for the Broadway musical, WICKED. (my new favorite by the way). Stephanie J. Block played the lead, and if you haven't heard her sing "Defining Gravity" - look it up on youtube!!! We did go to Ground Zero and see the plans for the World Trade Center Memorial. They are still working on those enormous holes where the towers stood. It was unreal. And we actually caught them removing the very last staircase from the sight to take to a museum. The media was everywhere. It was a pretty surreal experience. And one of my favorite nights was when we went to the Village Vanguard to hear the Lou Donaldson Quartet w/ Lonnie Smith on organ. Whew!!! Loved it!

Here are pictures from our trip. I was glad to get home and see Max on Monday!!

We had a fun time, but I'm glad to be home!! John David and his girlfriend, Lindsay will be here visiting us tonight thru Monday. Can't wait!!! I'm sure I'll have pictures and such to share later next week... have a fun weekend!

Bring on the Big Apple!

Well, I have been out of the blog world for quite some time! Things with us are good!

A lot has happened in the way of a new church search. We have met with our elders at OC and decided that they are our family. That church is our home and we are going to stick with it. Very exciting to finally have closure on everything! It was so wonderful to see so many family faces at church this past Sunday.

We leave today for a small vacation to New York City. Bring on the shopping and the theatre! Geof will be in a conference all day Thursday and half of Friday, so I'll visit friends and shop, etc. Thursday night we have tickets to the Village Vanguard. Very famous jazz club that has been around since like 1935. I am so excited! Our friend Josh suggested that I absolutely must go. There is apparently a great quartet playing that night with an unbelievable organist too. YAY!!!! We don't have a lot of other activities planned, but we'll probably do dinner at the Rainbow Room and then go to the top of Rockefeller to the "Top of the Rock" for a great view of Manhattan. Other than that, we might see a Broadway show or two of course. It's supposed to be yucky rainy weather, but that won't stop me from shopping and enjoying the city! Hope to post pictures eventually....

"Start spreading the news - I'm leaving today...."
